Take Your Employees to Lunch Day

Support Broken Arrow restaurants by encouraging your employees to go to lunch on Friday, June 14

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, June 13, 2013 - The residents of Oklahoma are always supportive of each other and the Broken Arrow Chamber is asking them to step up once again.

Tomorrow, Friday, June 14, 2013, the BA Chamber is promoting "Take Your Employees to Lunch Day."  Businesses are being asked to allow their employees time to go out to lunch at a Broken Arrow restaurant.

"Several businesses in Broken Arrow lost revenue during the water issue. The best way to help those business owners and their employees is to patron them," stated April Sailsbury, senior vice president of the Broken Arrow Chamber. "In addition to eating out, consider tipping a little extra to help the employees who lost wages."

"We appreciate the patience of our residents and business owners during this emergency situation," said Mayor Craig Thurmond. "Please take the time to eat at Broken Arrow establishments tomorrow. This an excellent way to show our restaurants that this community will always come together and support our local businesses."

The Tulsa County Health Department asked restaurants to close on Wednesday morning and remain closed until further notice. Restaurants are now starting to go through the process of opening and plan to be open for dinner tonight or at the very latest tomorrow morning.

"Closing your business for 36 hours would be a strain on any business. In addition to our restaurant losing income, our employees lost wages they rely on. We appreciate the support we are receiving from the BA Chamber, the local business communities and the residents," said Jason Scarpa, owner and operator of Main Street Tavern in Broken Arrow.

Businesses in Broken Arrow and surrounding communities are encouraged to participate in "Take Your Employees to Lunch Day!"
