The Mavericks will be without their franchise player for the start of the preseason. Dallas star Luka Doncic will be sidelined for at least a week due to a left calf contusion. Doncic suffered the injury during a practice session this week but there remains no concern about his availability for the team's regular season opener on October 24th. The five-time All-Star averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 9.8 assists while leading the Mavs to the NBA Finals last season.
