Former California running back Jaydn Ott announced his transfer to the University of Oklahoma on Tuesday, just a day after entering the transfer portal. Ott, a standout player for the Golden Bears, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the Sooners' offense as a graduate transfer.

The Sooners confirmed that Ott has signed with the program, providing a significant boost to their lineup. Despite being limited by an ankle injury last season, which held him to 385 yards and four touchdowns over 10 games, Ott is known for his impressive performances in previous seasons. In 2022, he rushed for 897 yards and 11 touchdowns, and in 2023, he led the Pac-12 with 1,315 rushing yards and 14 total touchdowns, averaging 5.32 yards per carry.

Oklahoma, which finished the 2024 season with a 6-7 record and struggled in their first year in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), is looking to improve its offensive output. The team ranked second to last in scoring in conference games, averaging 16.5 points per game, and had the lowest rushing average with 3.14 yards per carry. Ott's addition is expected to be a key factor in revitalizing the Sooners' running game.

The Sooners have also strengthened their roster with the addition of former Washington State quarterback John Mateer and former Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula. Ott's transfer leaves a gap in Cal's lineup, with Jaivian Thomas stepping up as the primary running back for the Golden Bears.

The spring transfer window officially closes on April 25.
