The NCAA Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) Oversight Committee ruled that Michigan should not have been awarded the extra time that allowed them to win the game against Western Michigan but claims it has no authority to change the outcome. DP wonders what the point of the committee is if they can’t fix this obvious travesty of justice.
Dan Patrick: “Why have an oversight committee if you don't have any power? Right? I don't understand this. This is really, really simple. You added one second. You shouldn't (have). Take away the one second (and) you take away the one play, and we know the result. That's it. This is the one case where you can say with absolute certainty, we added a second, shouldn't (have) been there, they shouldn't have gotten another play. We made a mistake. We can change. We can correct a mistake. But you're not going to.”
